"A" Goals - daznbone massively value the setting of goals and everything that then goes around the planning and execution of these. They do NOT need to be races. They can be health and well-being and ideally good-habit forming goals.
However there are two races which have been part of our own personal coaching and planning for #daznbone throughout 2018
For Daz its the mecca of ultras - Greece's finest 153 mile Spartathlon and the chance to tackle this beautiful beast on his own and with a cheeky Personal Best target of around 34 hours. Spartathlon takes place on Friday 28th September and Daz has just finished his final long training run in the Thames Path 100k challenge on Saturday 8th.
For Bone its the first ever time at the much loved Tooting 24hr ultra. This aim of this event (and the first goal) is to get a distance of 135 miles which is what you need to get a Spartathlon auto-qualifier. If this goal is achieved then the second aim is to get something in the 140s and to show that there has been real progression (through Daz's coaching).
How to get involved and follow what happens
Firstly we will be sharing all the tracking information on this site and via our Insta account. We will also be setting up some WhatsApp groups so that the kind friends and family that come and support us have a way of sharing how we are progressing and if we have any "help me" moments! Please let us know if you would like to be added to either or both of these WhatsApp groups - tag #dazsparta #bonetooting24
Captain (and brother) Jeff will be the leading the crewing for Daz at Spartathlon. This is no easy gig. Daz actually wrote a brilliant piece on how to do it well Jeff has been an absolute superstar and a brilliant supporter of everything that we have done with #daznbone to date. Really pleased to share that Jeff has also become our most recent new addition to the "being coached by #daznbone" team. Watch this space for details on Jeff's plans and progress
Tooting starts midday on Saturday 22nd September and anyone can come and support by coming down to the track - map details here. Bone would especially love any night owls to come out between midnight and 6:00am!!!!. Then the last stretch of 9am to midday on the Sunday it's always amazing to see friendly faces. If you want to come and have any questions let us know. In 2016 our beautiful friend Jamie ran Tooting and this article in the Guardian is one of the funniest reads ever
Take care all - see you on the other side x
